Great experience This was a great way to see the site, especially around town! My husband and I have never ridden a segway in our lives, but our guide was very helpful and a great teacher! Take the Montjuic tour for the beautiful view and you will not be disappointed!

Why this tour?

This Segway Tour will take you on a journey through Barcelona’s history, which started on the green mountain overlooking the city center, the Montjuïc, more than 2000 years ago.

The hill rises 173 m over the Mediterranean sea and its name is derived from a medieval Jewish cemetery that was located on the north-eastern side. The mountain is home to the Montjuïc castle, which was constructed on the hilltop in 1751 and served to defend the city, as well as to control its population. Interestingly, the Montjuic’s fortress complemented the citadel whose remains in the Parc de la Ciutadella are also visited at the beginning of this Segway Tour.

More about the tour

The Montjuïc has been an epicentre of the cultural and political development of Barcelona and its historical communities. The archaeological remains of the settlement of the Laietani tribe, dated from 300 BC, have been found at its foot, making Montjuïc home to one of the primary founding communities in the region.

The Montjuïc castle, which can also be reached by cable car and was constructed on the hilltop in 1751, served to defend the city, as well as to control its population. Interestingly, the Montjuic’s fortress complemented the citadel whose remains in the Parc de la Ciutadella are also visited at the beginning of this Segway tour.

Montjuïc’s modern history is not any less interesting than its past. Some of the main sights of Barcelona are located on its hillsides, and you will visit many of them during this “”out of the city”” tour.

For example, some major sports facilities of the 1992 Olympic Games; the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, the Palau Sant Jordi and the Olympic Museum of Barcelona are located on the city’s green hill.

With the MNAC – Catalan National Art Museum – and the Joan Miró Foundation, the area also has two of Barcelona’s most important art museums among its many attractions.

It is necessary to mention how fantastic it is to witness Barcelona’s sunset from the terraces of one of the many chiringuitos that are located on Montjuïc; it’s a beautiful experience worth sharing with friends and family.

Apart from Montjuïc and the Parc de la Ciutadella, this Segway tour also includes a part of the historic Port Vell, the oldest part of the city’s marina, and the Columbus monument that marks the end of the famous street of Las Ramblas.
