Amusement Parks are fun for children and for adults. But it’s true that when you are a kid, visiting an amusement park feels like heaven: you get to know your favorite cartoon characters, eat sweets and sugar-filled products all day long and ride roller coasters until you faint of exhaustion and happiness. Water parks are basically the same thing but soaked in water which makes them fun and refreshing at the same time, especially in summer, when the sun burns your skin.

Tibidabo Amusement Park
Where is it? Plaça Tibidabo, 3-4, 08035 Barcelona
With more than 117 years of history, the Tibidabo Amusement Park is one of the coolest most vintage amusement parks you will ever see. Located on top of the Mount Tibidabo, 512 meters above sea level, stand this terrific park, surrounded by beautiful green areas and with outstanding views of the city. It’s focused on families and has a quiet and relaxed atmosphere, combining vintage rides with more contemporary ones. We find bumper cars, roller coasters, 3D experiences, mirror halls and a special terrifying visit for the older ones. In the Tibidabo Amusement Park you can find areas for picnics, family restaurants and shops to buy souvenirs too. A perfect option to spend a fun day with friends or family, especially if you have kids.

Port Aventura World
Where is it? Avinguda del Batlle Pere Molas, km 2, 43840 Vila-seca, Tarragona
Port Aventura is probably the most famous amusement park in Catalonia and one of the bests in the country. With more than 5 million visitors per year, this amusement and theme park located in Salou, Tarragona is pure joy. The park is divided in 6 different areas: The American Far West, a Mexican area, a sector inspired by China and Polynesia, the Mediterranean sector and an area for the little ones called Sesame. They have awesome rides, including the famous Dragon Khan: a roller coaster with a fall of more than 100 meters length where you get a 115 km / h speed. Although, the jewel in the crown is El Shambala, a ride that broke three European records when it was inaugurated: height (76m), speed (134 km / h) and the longest descent (78m). In addition to the awesome rides, you can enjoy live shows throughout the day, especially in festive days such as Halloween or Thanksgiving Day, when you get unique thematic shows.

Costa Caribe
Where is it? Av. Pere Molas, Km. 2, 43480 Vila-seca, Tarragona
What is it? Well, think about a Port Aventura composed entirely by water rides and you´ll get Costa Caribe. The park has 20 rides and slides and chilling spaces that offers a much more “relaxing” vibe than Port Aventura. You can enjoy the long and warm summer days around palm trees, ambient music and an amazing artificial river. There are shops, restaurants and picnic areas to make life easier for tourists. From the Paseo de Gracia train station or Sants Station you can get there directly. This aquatic space is open from May 25th until the end of September, with prices ranging from 28 euros for adults to 24 euros for children.

Ferrari Land
Where is it? Avda de l’Alcade Pere Molas, Km 2, 43480 Vila-seca, Tarragona
A third branch of the Port Aventura experience is the amusement park called Ferrari Land, a heaven for all the speed-car lovers. The most mythical brand in the history of the automobile now has its own theme park, a monument to this Italian car. Its high-speed rides, with some of them overcoming a180 km / h speed, its Formula One simulators and the Go-karts circuits are some of the notable activities you can find in this park. In Ferrari Land we see its famous logo, the “Cavalinho Rampante”, in every corner, including the tons of awesome merchandising we find in all the amazing souvenir stores distributed across the park. Mandatory visit for all the F1 fans.

Lloret de Mar Water World
Where is it? Ctra. Vidreres, Km 1,2, 17310 Lloret de Mar, Girona
Lloret de Mar is one of the most popular towns in Catalonia when summer comes, and this water park, Water World, is one of the reasons. It has 250 meters length slides, rides such as La Tormenta, which has 80 meters fall or Kamikaze´s water races that reach almost 60km / h. But if you are looking for something quieter, you don’t have to worry because the park has also more relaxed rides such as boat tours and calmed water pools. Sun, great restaurants, souvenir shops are a great compliment for its fun rides. You can get to the water park by train from Barcelona or by free bus from Calella, Santa Susana, Malgrat de Mar or Blanes. Prices are among 17 and 30 euros, depending on your age and height.

Aquopolis
Where is it? Passeig de Pau Casals, 65, 43480 Platja de la Pineda, Tarragona
Aquopolis has two areas: the water park and the dolphinarium. In the water park you can enjoy rides of high-speed descent, ZigZag slides, rivers, lakes, pools, solarium areas and great restaurants. The dolphinarium gives children the opportunity to see beautiful animals such as dolphins, sea lions, seals and enjoy their tricks in the amazing animal shows they host. Inside the dolphinarium you can even have a swim with these intelligent mammals. You can get to Aquopolis by train from Tarragona, Salou or Sitges. The price for adults is 28 euros and 20 euros for children.

Illa Fantasia

Illa Fantasia is the closest waterpark to Barcelona, which is a plus to visit it. Among its amazing rides, it has spiral slides, super slides, the Torpedo, ZigZag slides and so much more. With a total amount of 18 rides and 7 pools, including the popular Gigantic Waves Pool, Illa Fantasia is the perfect destination for a fun day in the outdoors. From Barcelona you can get to the park from Sants Station, Plaza de Catalunya Trains Station or the Arc de Triomf Bus Station.
